Rolla, Mo. – A 24-3 run keyed the Maryville women's basketball team to a 79-60 victory at Missouri S&T Saturday afternoon.
Carsyn Fearday had a game-high 20 points, while
Gracie Stugart tallied a season-high 17 points. Maryville shot 80 percent (12-of-15) from the field in the second quarter to put the game away early. The win is the first in Great Lakes Valley Conference play for the Saints.

The Miners scored the first seven points of the game but the Saints roared into the lead by scoring the next 13 points. Stugart started the run with a 3-pointer and a driving layup. The Saints made three free throws before baskets by
Annika Pluemer and
Karlee Feldman were good for a 13-7 lead. Maryville took a 15-9 edge into the second after forcing nine turnovers in the opening 10 minutes.

Maryville took control early in the second with a 24-3 run that saw them hit 9-of-10 shots to stun the Miners.
Carsyn Fearday hit three straight jumpers, and Stugart followed as the Saints sank four consecutive field goals. Up 29-16, the Saints reeled off an 11-0 burst. After an
Antoinette Mussorici free throw, Stugart hit a jumper and Mussorici drained a triple.
Jenna Cotter powered for a layup, and
Madyson Rigdon drained a triple for a 39-16 advantage. A late trey by
Haidyn Pitsch pushed the Saints to a 44-18 cushion at intermission.

The Miners tried to cut into the lead but the Saints held at least a 20-point lead the entire third quarter. Fearday scored five straight points as the Saints took their largest advantage of the day at 60-33 late in the third. The Miners pulled to within 11 points midway through the final 10 minutes but the Saints gathered the momentum back with a 7-2 run and eased to the triumph.
