Rolla, Mo. – The Maryville men's volleyball team was looking to end its skid but Missouri S&T held off the Saints in a 25-15, 25-15, 25-22 Wednesday.
Caden Klingbeil led a balanced effort with five kills on just seven swings and a .571 hitting percentage.
Cameron Chambers distributed 23 assists to direct the offense.

The Saints scored two straight points on a
Victor Ganev kill and a Miner error for a 9-8 lead in set one. Missouri S&T answered with five straight points to retake the lead.
David Fleischer put down a kill to pull the Saints to within 13-10 but Maryville never got any closer.

In the second set, the Miners roared out to a quick start by scoring the first nine points. A Ganev kill started a 3-0 burst.
Jacob Fischer had a kill and an error by Missouri S&T pulled the Saints to within 9-3. Maryville later scored four of five points and trimmed the deficit to 21-13.

Trailing 6-5 in the third, Fleischer drilled in a kill before a Miner mistake pushed the Saints ahead 7-6. The hosted went back ahead and stayed in front at 17-14. Maryville closed the gap to 17-16. The teams traded the next nine points until Chambers' kill made it 21-20. However, the Miners scored three of the next four points and held on for the victory.
