Trey Redd tallied a season-high 14 points but Southwest Baptist hit 15 3-pointers to down the Maryville men's basketball team 87-66 Saturday in Bolivar, Mo.
Dewayne Vass finished with 13 points and five assists to aid Maryville's offense but the Saints could not overcome SBU's torrid shooting performance.

Tutu Chisholm free throw gave the Saints a quick 5-3 lead. However, the Bearcats scored nine straight points to take the advantage.
Jaeden Smith sank two free throws, and later, Vass' layup pulled the Saints to 19-16. A Smith triple chopped the SBU lead down to 24-22 with nine minutes to play in the half. The hosts used a 9-2 run and took a 47-32 edge into the break.

The Saints used a 9-0 spree that pulled them back into the game. Chisholm made one free throw, and
Ben Palacios sank a 3-pointer. Chisholm threw down a dunk, and a
JT Morgan 3-pointer drew the Saints to 50-41 with 16 minutes to play. However, the Bearcats scored 11 of the next 14 points to stretch out their advantage. Maryville made one final charge by scoring nine unanswered points. Redd sank a 3-pointer and two free throws, and Morgan made a shot in the lane. Palacios converted to at the stripe to trim the deficit to 65-58 at the 8:34 mark. SBU slowly pulled away down the stretch to prevent the Saints from winning their second straight game.
