St. Louis – The Maryville men's lacrosse team posted its largest rally in program history by roaring back for a 15-8 victory over Lincoln Memorial in the home opener. The Saints trailed 6-0 before scoring six straight times to tie the game. LMU went back ahead 8-7 but Maryville fired in the last eight goals of the game, including shutting out the Railsplitters in the fourth quarter.

LMU jumped ahead early with four scores in the first and two more in the second.
Ben Foster ignited the Saints comeback with a score at the nine-minute mark.
Reid Usrey and
Matt Martyn found the back of the net to halve the deficit. Martyn and
Justin Morgan scored less than a minute apart.
Ethan Olson took a pass from
Declan Mulholland and tied the game at 2:55 of the second.

The teams traded goals to start the third quarter before the Saints took control.
Clayton Cerett, who scored all four of his goals after halftime, ripped a shot that tied the game at 8-all. Usrey tallied with 3:33 left to give the Saints their first lead at 9-8. Maryville sealed the win with three goals in 44 seconds in the fourth.
Colin Tobias found the net at the 10:49 mark, and Cerett followed with 10:11 to play. Six seconds later, the Saints won the faceoff and Cerett completed his hat trick. Olson finished his hat trick to help Maryville seal the victory.
Stephen DeSantis entered the nets in the second quarter and made eight saves to allow the Maryville offense to rally.

The largest previous deficit the Saints had overcome in a win was a five-goal deficit at Montevallo in a 16-13 triumph March 10, 2019.
