Hager’s Walk-Off Home Run Gives Saints 3-1 Series Win Over Lewis

ST. LOUIS – Jacob Hager's walk-off home run in game one on Sunday gave Maryville a 3-1 series win over Lewis University. The Saints tied the first game with a Stephen Randazzo home run in the eighth and won it on Hager's ninth-inning blast. Maryville blew a late-inning lead in game two before falling in extras with a 9-7 final.
 
Game One Recap
Lewis got the upper hand in game one with an RBI single in the top of the second. They added to their lead in the third with another single up the middle.
 
Now trailing 3-0 heading into the bottom half of the fifth, Michael Long led off with a solo home run to left field to pull the Saints within two. With their backs against the wall in the bottom of the seventh, Michael Gould doubled in two runs to tie the game at three.
 
The Flyers regained their footing and built up a two-run lead in the top of the eighth, but Stephen Randazzo erased it with a game-tying two-run shot to left field.  The heroics continued into the ninth when Matt Schuler led off with a walk before Jacob Hager ended the game with another two-run bomb to give his team a 7-5 win.
 
Starting pitcher Jamie Young had a solid outing going five innings with three strikeouts and three earned runs. Noah Arras and Ben Prywitch locked the game down in the final four innings with five combined strikeouts

Game Two Recap
After a scoreless first inning from starting pitcher Ryan Louck, the Saints were given an early 3-0 lead by Matt Schuler's fourth home run of the season. Lewis struck back in the second with a two-RBI single to pull within one.
 
In the bottom half of the second, a pair of walks had the Saints in business before the Flyer catcher picked off the runner at second. Andy Bunton picked up his teammate with a two-run home run just out of reach of the left fielder to put Maryville up 5-2.
 
Randazzo added to the lead in the third with a two-run bomb to make it 7-2. Lewis continued the slugfest in the top of the fourth with a two-run shot, followed later by a game-tying three-run home run in the top of the seventh.
 
Lewis took their first lead of the contest with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth. Luke Carlson sealed an impressive 6.2 innings out of the bullpen and a Flyer victory by striking out the side in the bottom half.

The Saints travel to seventh-ranked Quincy University on Thursday, April 6 to open a four-game set on Easter weekend. The first pitch is set for 3 p.m.
