ST. LOUIS, Mo. –
Matt Arnold's first-inning grand slam fueled a 10-4 game one win over William Jewell University on Friday afternoon.

After starting pitcher
Jacob Kroeger struck out the side in the top of the first, the offense went to work.
Jack Zebig doubled to lead off the inning,
Elias Stevens worked his first of four walks, and
Jacob Hager singled in the first run.

Matt Schuler doubled the lead with a sacrifice fly and
Andy Bunton made it 3-0 with another RBI single. Later in the inning, catcher
Matt Arnold stepped in with the bases loaded and drilled a towering grand slam to right field to open a 7-0 lead.

William Jewell responded in the top of the second inning. Quincy Aldrich singled in two runs followed by a Jonah Wilcox RBI double. Alex Epp singled to cut the lead to 7-4 after reaching on an error to plate a run.

Kroeger rebounded in the next two innings, retiring six in a row including a pair of strikeouts.
Drake Downing relieved him in the sixth with a pair of scoreless innings and two strikeouts.

Maryville continued to add runs with a pair in the sixth and another in the eighth on a Roos RBI double.
Noah Arras finished a 10-4 win with two more scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
