LANSING, Mich. – Maryville University women's bowling defeated Carthage College in their second game on Friday to advance to a rematch against Youngstown State University on Saturday. The Saints opened the tournament with a loss to the YSU before rebounding against the Firebirds.
At 8 a.m. (CT) against Youngstown State, the Saints dropped traditional play 1,138-907 before getting edged out 1,143-1,109 in baker play to lose 2-0 overall.
Natalie Heltne led the way in traditional play with a 195 with
Laura Bartelt not far behind her with a 189.
In the afternoon session, Maryville met with Carthage after their loss to Vanderbilt, taking traditional play 1,040-924 before closing out the match with a 987-896 victory in the baker match. Heltne (236),
Kaitlyn Cavender (233),
Anna Maxwell (204), and
Brianna Schmidt (204), all logged games over 200 to help the Saints to the second day.
