Maryville Baseball Earns First NCAA DII Regional Bid in Program History

INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville University baseball will play Ashland University in their first NCAA Division II Regional Tournament in program history. The Saints were announced in the selection show on Sunday night to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1985 and the first one in the university's Division II era.
 
Maryville went 34-18 overall in 2023 and took third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season with a 21-11 record in conference play. The Saints won a pair of games over the University of Illinois Springfield and William Jewell College in the GLVC Tournament after dropping game one to Drury University. They were eliminated by the regionally first-ranked Quincy University Hawks on Saturday with a 12-8 final.
 
The Saints have not played in a national tournament since their Division III team made it back in 1985. Maryville lost the opener to the College of Wooster 7-2 and was eliminated by Allegheny College 12-4 in their second contest.
 
The NCAA Regional opener versus Ashland will take place on Thursday, May 18, in Springfield, Ill.. The first pitch is set for 2 p.m.
