SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Maryville University baseball dropped Friday's NCAA Regional contest to the University of Indianapolis with a 14-5 final. The Saints will take on the University of Illinois Springfield on Saturday, May 20, in an elimination game. Â

Indianapolis struck for two in the first and three in the second to jump ahead 5-0. A bases-loaded walk from
Matt Schuler brought in a run in the fourth, but the Greyhounds responded with two more in the bottom half.

Andy Bunton started the top of the fifth by getting on with an error followed by a
Michael Gould walk.
Elias Stevens then dug in and ripped his 17
th home run of the season, setting the program's mark for the most in one campaign.

In the sixth, the Saints loaded the bases on three walks with only one out, but UIndy tight-roped out of danger with a fielder's choice on a force out at home and a swinging strikeout.

Jacob Hager hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh, but was offset by a huge inning from the Greyhounds in the bottom half. Zack Williams led off with a single and moved to third on a failed pickoff attempt. The error kick-started a seven-run inning and allowed UIndy to pull ahead 14-5.
