ST. LOUIS – Andy Bunton was selected to the ABCA Division II Midwest Region All-Defensive Team for outstanding play in the field at second base in 2023. The redshirt junior from Danville, Ill., earns his first career selection to the ABCA Midwest All-Defensive team after posting a .984 fielding percentage.
 
His sure-handed defense kept the Saints out of trouble all season, making just four errors in 255 chances. Bunton collected 115 putouts while finishing second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with 33 double plays turned and 136 assists.
 
In two seasons at Maryville, Bunton has accumulated a .981 fielding percentage in 471 chances (nine errors). In 2022, he finished third in the GLVC with 124 assists and fourth with 25 double plays turned.
 
Players selected to the ABCA NCAA Div. II Region All-Defensive teams were eligible for ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove honors. The 2023 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners in all divisions were announced Wednesday, June 21.
