ST. LOUIS – Maryville University improved to 2-0-1 on Thursday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Fort Hays State University. The 10
th-ranked Saints were led by
Tim Smith's three-point day at Scheels Overland Park in Overland Park, Kan.
Run of Play:
- Senior Kelvin Mulinya scored in the 12th minute of the game on Maryville's first shot attempt to open up a 1-0 lead, assisted by Tim Smith.
- In the 15th minute, a Luca Bartoni shot was denied by Tigers' goalkeeper Ben Dixon.
- Tim Smith continued to pepper the FHSU defense with another shot attempt on goal at 22:05.
- The Tigers maintained offensive pressure for a few minutes after the 34th minute, missing wide left on one shot while getting denied by Nick Hemann on two shots on goal.
- Mason Crew wrapped up the half with a shot in the bottom center of the goal that was turned away by Dixon.
- Maryville struck quickly again to begin the second half, doubling their lead on a Miguel Cobos goal at 46:45, assisted by Marcus Kalebo.

- FHSU cut into the Saints' lead at 75:24 with a penalty goal from Blake Arndt, his third of the season.
