Smith’s Three-Point Day Leads Maryville Past Fort Hays State 3-1

ST. LOUIS – Maryville University improved to 2-0-1 on Thursday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Fort Hays State University. The 10th-ranked Saints were led by Tim Smith's three-point day at Scheels Overland Park in Overland Park, Kan.
Run of Play:
  • Senior Kelvin Mulinya scored in the 12th minute of the game on Maryville's first shot attempt to open up a 1-0 lead, assisted by Tim Smith.
  • In the 15th minute, a Luca Bartoni shot was denied by Tigers' goalkeeper Ben Dixon.
  • Tim Smith continued to pepper the FHSU defense with another shot attempt on goal at 22:05.
  • The Tigers maintained offensive pressure for a few minutes after the 34th minute, missing wide left on one shot while getting denied by Nick Hemann on two shots on goal.
  • Mason Crew wrapped up the half with a shot in the bottom center of the goal that was turned away by Dixon.
