Defense Shines as Saints Steamroll Peacocks

FAYETTE, Iowa. – In just the fourth ever meeting between the No. 12-ranked Maryville women's soccer team and the GLVC-sophomore Upper Iowa Peacocks, the Saints dominated, tallying two goals in each half for their tenth GLVC victory of the season.

Ashlyne Hunt tallied two goals on the day, one in each half, while Ulrika Bredin and Nika Vemdal both added one of their own.

In goal, Agnes Vilen and Sophia Sulawske split time with it being the first time a keeper not with the last name Vilen has played between the posts. The freshman from Evansville, Ind. made two saves in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Before the action had even hit ten minutes it was already a two-goal lead for the visitors. Hunt capitalized on a defensive miscue by the Peacocks to find the net     for the ninth time this season. For Bredin it was pure power as she unleashed a shot from 15 yards out to the bottom right of the goal.

Into the second, it was quick scoring again as Hunt tallied her second of the day at the 56th minute. Vemdal, the senior from Gothenburg, Sweden, made it 4-0 with her own goal at the 72nd, making it the sixth time the Saints have scored four times this season.

UP NEXT
The Saints will head south to Romeoville, Ill. for a bout with the Lewis Flyers on Sunday, Oct. 27.
