Saints Finish Exhibition Play with Defeat at No. 25 Indiana

Bloomington, Ind. – The Maryville women's basketball team closed out exhibition play by dropping a 95-27 decision at No. 25 Indiana Wednesday evening. The Saints were led in scoring by Madyson Rigdon who finished with eight points. The nationally-ranked Hoosiers shot 52.9 percent from the field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hoosiers scored the first basket of the game but Indiana native Claire Rake drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key to give the Saints a 3-2 lead. Indiana converted its next three shots to reclaim the advantage. Lindsay Schadewalt knocked down a wing jumper to pull the Saints back to within 10-6. The freshman scored again in traffic but Maryville went scoreless for the final three minutes as IU built a 28-8 lead at the first quarter.

Madyson Rigdon rained down a 3-pointer early in the second, and Adylan Ayer followed with another from deep. Maryville suffered another shooting dry spell as Indiana led 50-14 at halftime. Due to the Hoosier defense, the Saints were only able to convert five field goals, while Indiana converted at a 58 percent clip. Rigdon picked up the offense late in the third quarter as she converted three free throws and a pull-up jumper. The Maryville defense slowed the IU attack a bit in the second half as the host shot under 45 percent but the Hoosiers steadily pulled away.
