Men’s Soccer Claims Second-Straight Clean Sheet

NORMANDY, Mo. – After not having a clean sheet all season, the Maryville men's soccer team has now rattled off two in a row, defeating Missouri-St. Louis 1-0 late on Friday night. Steen Nielsen manned the goal for the first time this season, earning the win on the night.

Lukas Molander also was the milestone maker for the day, scoring the first goal of his career at the 28th minute of action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Fouls plagued the home Tritons early with them tallying five within the first 20 minutes of action. The Saints finally capitalized at the 28th minute, with passes by Sebastian Weitlaner and Carl Norby giving Molander the opportunity to net the first goal of his young career.

From then, the defense shined. Nielsen in goal faced nine shots on the game, recording four saves.

Five different Saints registered a shot in the bout, with Yayo Mutombo being just one of two to get a shot on frame.

UP NEXT
Jefferson City, Mo. is next on the docket as the Saints will face off with Lincoln for the first time in program history. Action is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
