Women’s Bowling Finishes Runner-Up at LadyJack Classic

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Maryville women's bowling team placed second at the Stephen F. Austin LadyJack Classic in Kenosha, Wis., marking a strong performance in their second tournament of the season. The Saints overall 11-2 weekend marked the best team performance in program history.
 


 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The weekend began in Baker action, which suited the Saints well, as they finished a perfect 5-0, recording 1,000-pin sets in every match. It was highlighted by dramatic wins in baker action. They edged No. 1 Jacksonville State by just six pins, then followed up with a dominant 1010-931 victory over No. 4 Vanderbilt.
 
On Saturday, the action shifted to traditional play, and the Saints continued their momentum. They downed No. 3 Youngstown State 1009-886 in their opening match. However, their unbeaten streak ended two matches later with a narrow 1056-998 loss to No. 17 Wichita State.
 
Entering the final day of the tournament, the Saints held the No. 2 seed and faced No. 3 Youngstown State once again. In one of the closest matches of the weekend, the teams battled through eight games after a 192-192 tie in the third set. Maryville rallied from a 3-1 deficit, clinching the victory with a 100-87 performance in the tiebreaker.
 
The Saints' strong play against top teams continued, as they defeated Nebraska in six games. This victory gave Maryville wins against four of the top five teams and five of the top 10 programs in the tournament.
 
The day ended with a highly anticipated matchup against No. 1 Jacksonville State. However, the Saints fell in six games, finishing the tournament in second place.
 
Elizabeth Teuber was outstanding, finishing fourth in the individual standings and earning All-Tournament honors. Teuber averaged 201.4 pins per game, including a high game of 236 in her fifth match. Anna Maxwell also earned a spot in the top 20, finishing 17th with a 210.2 average.

The Saints will head to the Garden State for the Garden State Classic, hosted by Monmouth, on Nov. 22-24.
