Winona, Minn.  – Freshman
Lindsey Schadewalt poured in a season-high 23 points but the Maryville women's basketball team missed a shot at the buzzer that would have forced overtime as Winona State survived to edge the Saints 62-60.
Gracie Stugart hauled down 11 rebounds and handed out five assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Down 50-35 midway through the third quarter, the Saints cut down the deficit with 11 straight points.
Adylan Ayer sparked the run with a layup, and Schadewalt converted a drive.
Caden Krohn knocked down a 3-pointer, and Ayer sank a jumper. Schadewalt's layup brought the Saints to 50-46. WSU finally scored but
Madyson Rigdon answered to make it 52-48 leading into the fourth.

The Warriors scored to open the final 10 minutes until Ayer answered and Stugart converted two at the line to cut the deficit to 54-52 with seven minutes left. Schadewalt sandwiched jumpers around one WSU free throw to bring the Saints to 57-56 with 2:40 to go. The Warriors went back up 60-56 but the freshman had the answer at 60-58. WSU sank two free throws before Schadewalt knocked down a pull-up jumper from the right elbow with 49.3 seconds to play.

Maryville's defense forced a turnover to get the ball back with 20.4 seconds to go. The Saints called timeout with 3.7 ticks remaining. Maryville had an attempt from the left wing at the horn but the shot hit the left side of the rim and bounced away. Schadewalt converted 10-of-19 shots from the field and added six rebounds. Ayer finished with nine points and four boards.
