St. Louis – In its home opener, the Maryville men's basketball saw a halftime lead slip away as Missouri Western rallied to down the Saints 67-56.
Dewayne Vass topped the Saints with 14 points, while
Lucas Burton and
Henry Meyer both finished with 11 points apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints went on an 8-3 run late in the first half and eventually took a 34-29 lead into the break. Maryville used a 7-2 burst early in the second half to go up 41-32. The Griffons tallied eight straight points to trim the gap to 41-40. The Saints went up 43-40 on a
Trey Redd bucket but MWSU tied the game.
Anthony Holden scored to push the Saints back ahead for a 45-43 lead.

However, the Griffons went on a 14-2 burst to surge ahead.
Henry Meyer drained a trey and Burton had a layup to pull the Saints to within 59-52. However, Missouri Western scored six consecutive points to grab a double-digit lead and held off the Saints to cap the rally.
