LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – After a weekend off, the Maryville swimming teams returned to the pool deck at the Saint Mary Quad Meet.

The men's team finished 2-1 on the day, defeating Sterling College 153-24 and Iowa Western 115-101. The women's team found similar success, downing Sterling 108-55 and Iowa Western 102-51.

Both teams fell to host Saint Mary, with the men losing 147-98 and the women dropping their matchup 179-36.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints performed well throughout the day. Moustafa Khadija picked up multiple event wins on the women's side, finishing first in the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. Isabella Calabio and
Lia Johnson also contributed top finishes, with Calabio winning the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM, while Johnson took the 100-yard breaststroke and placed second to Calabio in the 200-yard IM.

On the men's team,
Colin Fitzgerald and
Dalton Rice went back-to-back in the 50-yard freestyle, placing second and third in the 100-yard freestyle later in the meet.
Amir Yuldashev and
Wyatt Martin followed suit in the 200-yard IM, with Yuldashev taking first and Martin finishing second. Additional top finishes included Gavin Blades, who took second in the 200-yard butterfly; Chase Hays, who placed second in the 500-yard freestyle; and
Xavier Harris, who finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke.

The relay teams also shined, with both squads finishing second in the 200-yard medley relay. The women's team of
Ellie Williams, Johnson, Khadija, and Calabio clocked in at 1:59.72, while the men's quartet of Fitzgerald, Martin, Blades, and Rice wrapped up the event in 1:39.42.

Both "A" relay teams finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay to close out the meet. The women's team recorded a time of 1:47.01, while the men's team finished at 1:34.65.

UP NEXT
The Saints will journey on the road next weekend as they travel to Lewis on Nov. 9 with action set to begin at 12 p.m. from Romeoville, Ill.
