ST. LOUIS – The No. 8 Maryville women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day by dominating Quincy with a 3-0 victory, firing 30 shots and allowing just two.
After the game, the Saints honored their seniors, a group that has led the program to back-to-back regular-season titles, a GLVC championship, multiple NCAA tournament berths, and the program's first-ever tournament victory. The seniors recognized included
Lily Boushelle,
Lotte Brands,
Ulrika Bredin,
Tori Calvert,
Ashlyne Hunt,
Sara Lawler, and
Nika Vemdal.
The celebration extended onto the field, as all three Maryville goals were scored by seniors. Hunt recorded her 10th goal of the season, and Calvert scored twice for her first career multi-goal game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In one of the fastest goals in program history, Hunt capitalized on a saved shot by
Elsa Nilson-Hurtig and a pass from
Emily Doane to find the back of the net just a minute and nine seconds into the contest.
The Saints dominated possession from there, taking 17 shots and five corner kicks in the first half. Calvert doubled the lead, scoring her third goal of the season off a pass from Hunt.
Calvert added her second goal in the 73rd minute, sealing the victory and securing her first career multi-goal game.
