Rolla, Mo. – Behind a double-double from
Ella Brinkmann and 13 kills from
Emma Hoing, the Maryville volleyball team posted a 25-15, 25-23, 25-23 sweep at Missouri S&T. Brinkmann had 14 kills and 14 digs, while
Regina Elguezabal led the defensive efforts with 16 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Up 12-11, the Saints scored six of the next seven points to take command.
Ella Domian and
Josey Wahlers had three blocks to bookend the run. Brinkman served an ace, and Hoing delivered a kill, and a kill by
Hanna Dressing pushed the margin to 18-12. The Saints tallied five of the final six points to take the opening set 25-15.

The Miners used a big 7-0 run to surge ahead in set two. The gap was 14-9 before the Saints reeled off five straight points to tie the set. Hoing had a kill to start the run, and a Miner error tied the set at 14-all. Neither team scored more than two straight points as the set was tied six more times and at 23-23. However, Brinkmann delivered two straight kills as the Saints took the set 25-23.

Trailing set three 10-7, the Saints jumped ahead with four straight points. The teams traded scoring runs before the Miners were up 16-15. Domian had a kill, and consecutive errors by the Miners pushed the Saints ahead 18-16. The hosts scored five of the next six points and eventually built a 23-21 cushion. Maryville responded and insured the match would not see a fourth set. Brinkmann pounded down three straight kills, and a service ace by
Alyssa Koska ended the match 25-23. Maryville's defense held the Miners to just a .137 hitting percentage and out dug the Miners 66-55.
