St. Louis – For the first time in program history, the Maryville men's basketball squad won its sixth straight Great Lakes Valley Conference game and held on for a 63-62 victory over Lewis. Down by two with 1:05 to play,
JT Morgan sank a 3-pointer which would prove to be the game winner.
Trey Redd and
Luke Williams led the Saints in scoring with 13 points apiece. Maryville survived two potential game-winning shots by the Flyers in the final seconds.

In the second half, the Saints were up 36-35 before back-to-back baskets by
Davis Walker and Redd built a 40-35.
Ari Jackson scored on a drive for a 42-37 edge with 14 minutes to play. The Flyers closed to within one but Jackson drilled a 3-pointer to build a 45-41 margin. Redd took over with two straight drives, capped by a 3-point play and a 52-45 cushion with 9:12 left.

Lewis tied the game at 56-all before Morgan converted in the lane and a 58-56 lead with 4:43 to play. Lewis edged in front 60-58 with just under four minutes remaining. The Flyers scored on a jumper and added on two free throws to take a 60-58 margin.
Dewayne Vass tied the game with a driving layup with 3:38 to play. The Flyers tied the game again before the defenses took over. Morgan then splashed in a deep 3-pointer for a 63-62 lead with 1:05 to go, which would prove to be the game-winning basket.

The Saints forced a Lewis miss but turned the ball back over to the Flyers. After a timeout, Lewis had two shots to go ahead but both attempts misfired as the Saints won their third straight home game at the buzzer.

What's Next?
The Saints continue their homestand as Indianapolis invades Moloney Arena Saturday, Feb. 3, for a 3:15 p.m. contest. The game has a theme of "Mental Health Awareness" and the University will have speaker Brandon Saho on campus for a presentation before and at halftime.
