Kraft Records Season-High 16 Kills as Saints Move Past Missouri S&T 3-1

St. Louis –  Luke Kraft pounded down a season-high 16 kills as the Maryville University men's volleyball team ran its winning streak to four straight with a 3-1 victory over Missouri S&T. The Saints prevailed 27-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-17. Makai Scott hit .310 with 13 kills, while Cameron Lee recorded a season-best 16 digs. Cameron Chambers had 38 assists and narrowly missed a double-double with nine digs.

Set one was close throughout but the Saints used a solo block by Kraft to earn two set points. The Miners saved them both but the Saints scored to make it 25-24. Missouri S&T tied the score but Kraft had a kill, and a Miner error gave the Saints the win at 27-25.  In the second set, the Miners took a 21-18 lead but the Saints came back to force at tie 21-21. Still deadlocked at 22-22, the visitors scored three straight to tie the match at 1-1.
 
The third set was tied at 12-12 before the Saints took control with an 8-0 run. Scott had three straight kills as the Saints opened up a 15-12 lead that force a Missouri S&T timeout. Kraft and David Fleischer worked a block, and the Maryville defense forced three straight errors. After another Missouri S&T timeout, Jacob Fischer served an ace for a 20-12 lead. The Miners were unable to make a push, and a Kraft kill ended the set at 25-15. The fourth set saw the Saints use a big run late to pull away. Down 15-14, Maryville scored six straight points. After a Miner error, Lee and Fischer teamed up for a block. After another S&T miscue, Fischer hammered in a kill. Chambers served an ace, then fed Scott for a kill for a 20-15 advantage. The Saints scored four consecutive points, then won the match on a service error at 25-17.

What's Next?
The Saints stay at home as they host the Maryville Invitational. Friday, Feb. 16, sees the Saints play Roosevelt University at 8 p.m. following the 5 p.m. Missouri S&T-Cumberland contest. Saturday, Feb. 17, sees three matches in Moloney Arena, with Maryville taking on Cumberland at 5 p.m. to close the tourney.
