Maryville Moves Up to Seventh in ACHA Men’s Division I Rankings

UNION LAKE, Mich. – Maryville University M1 Hockey moved up to seventh in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Division I Rankings on Wednesday. The Saints are coming off a two-game sweep of first-ranked Minot State University and sit at 21-9-2 overall.

The ACHA uses two computer rankings generated by USHSHO.com, Ranking A (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 7) and Ranking B (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 1), to come up with an average of the two rankings. The ACHA will then use the list generated from the average for its weekly ranking. Ties will be broken using the higher ranked team from Ranking B until the Top 25 teams are listed. All games that go to overtime will be scored as ties in the computer ranking.

After dropping Thursday's game to the University of Arizona in overtime, sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Bain stopped 51 of 55 shots over the next two games against the reigning champion Beavers to secure a pair of wins. Campbell McLean swatted in the game-winner with under two minutes remaining in Friday's win and on Saturday, Maryville earned a shootout win behind Timon Prexler's goal and three saves from Bain.

M1 hockey is back in action at home on Friday, Feb. 16, to open a two-game set with 19th-ranked Missouri State University.
