Makai Scott finished with 12 kills as the Maryville University men's volleyball team pushed its winning streak to a program-best nine with a sweep at Fontbonne Tuesday night. Maryville hit .447 with 43 kills and just nine errors and won via set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-16. Scott finished with a .588 hitting percentage, while
AJ Robateau had eight kills on 10 swings.
Jacob Fischer recorded nine kills on a .615 hitting mark.

Fontbonne recap
The Saints took early charge in set one by scoring four of the first five points. Fischer opened the match with three kills to put the Saints on top. Maryville stayed in front and was still up 18-13 before salting away the set with four straight points. Fischer started the run, and after two Fontbonne errors, a
Cameron Chambers ace gave the Saints a 22-13 lead.
David Fleischer's kill ended the opening set at 25-17.

Maryville held a small advantage for most of the second set and was up 15-11. Robateau scored the first of three straight points as the Saints grabbed an 18-11 edge. The Griffins recorded one point before a
Luke Kraft kill started another run of three straight points. Robateau pounded down an overpass at set point for another 25-17 win.

The Saints used a 5-1 run to build a 12-7 cushion before Fontbonne had its best run of the night. The hosts scored five straight and tied the set. It was still deadlocked at 13-all until Maryville scored seven unanswered points. Fontbonne committed an error, and Kraft followed with a kill. Scott tacked on two consecutive kills until the home side committed three straight error as Maryville went up 20-13. Scott's kill closed the match at 25-16.
