Liberty, Mo. – The Maryville men's hoops squad had a big second-half rally come up short as William Jewell held on for a 67-61 win.
Trey Redd scored a team-best 15 points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds.
Davis Walker finished with 14 points, while
Ari Jackson finished with 12 points and five assists.

The Saints scored the first five points of the game to take the early lead.
Colin Schuler sank a 3-pointer, and
Anthony Holden knocked down a jumper for a 5-0 advantage.
Davis Walker and Schuler connected from deep to push the Maryville margin to 11-4. The Saints were still up at the 12:35 mark when Ari Jackon sank a pull-up jumper for a 15-13 lead.

The Cardinals scored 10 straight to take the lead before
Tutu Chisholm powered up for a layup to draw the Saints to within 23-17. However, WJC sank three straight 3-pointers to surge ahead.
Trey Redd drained a 3-pointer and scored at the halftime buzzer as the Saints were down 38-22 at halftime.

Redd continued hit strong play by sinking a 3-pointer to start the second half. Walker sank back-to-back buckets as the Saints drew back to within single digits at 38-29 three minutes after the break. The deficit was 40-29 before Maryville ripped off 11 consecutive points.
Anthony Holden sank two 3-pointers, and Jackson followed from deep. Redd's jumper forged a 40-40 tie. The Cardinals went on a 12-2 run to go back up by double figures. William Jewell rebuilt a 61-49 lead but the Saints charged right back. Jackson ignited a 9-0 burst with a 3-pointer, and Walker scored on a drive to the bucket. Jackson scored a free throw and a triple to chop the deficit to 61-58 with 4:25 to play. However, the Cardinals used a 6-0 run to hold off the Maryville charge.
