Liberty, Mo. – The Maryville women's basketball team set a program record for Great Lakes Valley Conference wins in a season with its 14th in a 79-72 victory at William Jewell. The previous single-season record for GLVC wins was 13 by the 2012-13 team.
Antoinette Mussorici and
Carsyn Fearday led the way with 21 and 20 points, respectively.
Karlee Feldman picked up her 14th double-double of the season on 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

With the score tied at 13-all, the Saints scored six straight points to surge ahead. Mussorici scored on a drive and
Annika Pluemer sank two free throws to close the first. Feldman sank a short jumper for a 19-13 lead. WJC hit a 3-pointer but the Saints answered with a 9-0 burst. Fearday started the run with a hoop and a 3-pointer, and Mussorici followed with back-to-back layups for a 28-16 advantage. The Saint heated up from deep as Pluemer hit a triple and
Haidyn Pitsch splashed back-to-back treys for a 37-22 cushion. The Cardinals scored the last seven points of the quarter to trim the Maryville edge down to 37-29.

The Cardinals made a push in the third quarter and pulled back to within one point. Fearday sank a jumper, and Mussorici drilled a 3-pointer. Feldman scored inside and Pluemer drilled a 3-pointer as the Saints reestablished a double-digit margin at 56-45. WJC made a late three to chop the Maryville lead to 56-48 entering the final quarter.

The Cardinals rallied again in the fourth and came back to force a tie at 58-5 with 6:16 to play in the game.
Gracie Stugart sank two free throws on the next possession to push the Saints back on top, and Pluemer scored on a drive. After one WJC free throw, Stugart and Fearday knocked down shots for a 66-59 edge with four minutes remaining. The Cardinals got to within one possession but the Mussorici scored on a drive, and Fearday knocked down a 3-pointer for a 73-67 advantage. After a stop, Feldman converted a layup and a 75-67 cushion with 1:18 left. WJC made another push and trimmed the deficit to 75-72 with 36.2 seconds to play. Fearday sank two free throws with 30.1 left for a five-point margin. The Saints drew a charge before Mussorici converted two more at the line with 21.5 seconds to play for a 79-72 lead to seal the victory.

During the game, Mussorici moved past Mary Barton for second place on the all-time Maryville career scoring list with 1584 points.

The Saints end the regular season with a Noon contest at Rockhurst Saturday, March 2. Maryville has clinched a berth into the 2024 GLVC Tournament and is battling for position in the league standings.
