M1 Hockey Opens Three-Game Weekend Against Two Ranked Opponents

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – After a weekend off, Maryville University takes on a pair of ranked opponents at the Maryville University Hockey Center this weekend. The Saints open up with No. 19 Arizona on Thursday followed by two on Friday and Saturday against No. 1 Minot State University.

M1 hockey only has five games left in the regular season over the next two weekends as the eighth-ranked Saints look to finish strong before opening the American Collegiate Hockey Association National Tournament beginning on Thursday, March 7, at the Centene Community Ice Center in Chesterfield, Mo.

"Since we are not in a conference, this is as close as we can get to a national tournament simulation this close the tournament," said Head Men's Hockey Coach John Hogan. "Three games in three days versus two teams that will most definitely be in there in March. It's a great opportunity to get back on the right foot after a split at Ohio and to find our sea legs for March. If you want to win the last game of the season, you have to be able to adapt to beat four teams over four days in March. Two teams over three days is a pretty good test run. This weekend will challenge our group in that way like no other weekend this season and I am excited for our group to rise to the challenge."

The puck drop on Thursday against No. 19 Arizona is set for 8:15 p.m., at the MUHC. Both games against No. 1 Minot State begin at 8 p.m., on Friday and Saturday.
