ST. LOUIS – Maryville University fell to Saginaw Valley State University 10-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals jumped out to an early 4-0 lead through three innings before piling on insurance runs in the fifth and ninth innings.

Saginaw Valley jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Colin Cornwell RBI double and an Austin Schweiger RBI groundout. Reed Raymond drove in two more in the third inning on a single to center field.

In the bottom of the fourth,
Colin Bergmann got an opportunity with the bases loaded and singled through the left side for Maryville's first run.
Jacob Hager hit a sacrifice fly in the next at-bat, but the Cardinals worked out of the jam with a 4-2 lead still intact.

A bases-loaded walk in the fifth brought in another SVSU run and in the top of the ninth, the Cardinals piled on with five runs on three hits and two errors. Raymond came out of the designated hitter spot in the lineup and pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to seal a 10-2 win for his team.
