KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Maryville University softball lost a pair of games on the road at Rockhurst University on Saturday. The Saints fall to 15-19 overall and 7-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Game One Recap
Rockhurst plated a run in the bottom of the first after a leadoff single, an error, and an RBI single from Cheyenne Minnick. The Hawks extended the lead to 2-0 in the second frame when they got another leadoff single and later an RBI from Katherine Maggard.

In the sixth, Lauren Good hit a solo home run, her second of the year, to make it 3-0. Avery Huffman took it from there, throwing a complete-game shutout in the circle for Rockhurst. She tallied five strikeouts and allowed five hits.

Chayse Ramey also tallied a complete game, going six innings while allowing two earned runs and tallying three strikeouts.

Game Two Recap
In the bottom of the first of game two, Kerstyn Finch led off with a walk and stole second. Maya Gallagher stepped in the next at-bat and tripled to right-center to pick up the RBI. Gallagher then scored on a wild pitch.

Finch doubled home another run in the bottom of the second to make it 3-0. Maryville did not answer until the top of the sixth when
Isabella Garcia blasted her second home run of the season plating two runs. After a pitching change,
Mandi Lenon doubled two at-bats later with two outs, but Anna Stephen worked out of the jam with the 3-2 lead still intact.

Emily Senjan worked around a couple of singles in the sixth to hold the game steady, but Stephen retired the side in order in the seventh to pick up the save and a 3-2 Rockhurst win.

Maryville is back at home for a pair of conference doubleheaders against the University of Missouri-St. Louis and McKendree University next weekend. The first game against McKendree is set for noon on Saturday, April 6, at the Maryville Athletic Complex.Â
