Romeoville, Ill. – The Maryville men's lacrosse team recorded its second victory of the season over a ranked team as the Saints beat No. 15 Colorado Mesa 12-8.
Ben Mickett fired in five goals and added an assist, while
Justin Simonson added four goals and one assist to lead the offensive attack.
Dylan Radke stopped 12 shots in the cage as the Saints held the nation's leading goal scorer to just one goal.

Simonson fired in the opening two goals of the game to give the Saints the early lead. CMU scored its first goal of before
Colin Tobias gave Maryville a 3-1 advantage. The Mavericks made it 3-2 before the Saints took control with four consecutive scores.
Mitchell Kaye scored before Simonson completed a hat trick in the first half. Mickett deposited back-to-back goals for a 7-2 advantage. CMU scored in the final minute to make it 7-3 at the break.

Maryville took command by tallying three unanswered goals. Mickett finished off his hat trick at the 8:43 mark, and
Justin Morgan scored 50 seconds later. The Saints won the following faceoff, and Mickett found the back of the net 26 ticks afterwards for a 10-3 cushion.

The Mavericks got as close at 10-6 but Simonson and Mickett picked up goals just over a minute apart early in the fourth as the Saints surged ahead 12-6 and eased to the win. The win over the No. 15 Mavericks adds to the win over No. 18 Lewis earlier in the season.
