ST. LOUIS, MO. – Maryville softball started their home opening series strong with two wins against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The Saints are now 6-15 heading into another two-game set on Sunday against the Rangers.
Game 1
Maryville began the morning strong with four runs in the first inning.
Emily Corona scored off of a wild pitch and
Jenna Kosnoff then followed by scoring off a throwing error by the shortstop, making the score 2-0.
Cailynn Gdowski stepped in and drove the ball up the middle, scoring
Erin Wurst to bring the total 3-0.
Taylor Duff finished the inning with a run-scoring single, scoring Gdowski.
In the second inning,
Isabella Garcia drove in a run off a long fly ball to center making the score 5-0. Parkside scored two in the fifth, but Maryville responded with another run on a
Melanie Nelson single in the sixth.
Chayse Ramey closed the door from there, earning a complete game win with four strikeouts and four hits allowed.

Game 2
In game two, the Saints saw another fast start with one run scored in each of the first three innings.
Kylie Swinney singled in Nelson in the first,
Brooklyn Moore tallied an RBI single in the second, and Wurst drove in a run in the third.
The Rangers retaliated by scoring their lone run in the fourth. Maryville was not finished yet and got another run onÂ
Mandi Lenon's RBI down the line. The Saints went on to finish the game with a 4-1 final.

Ella Ludden was the starting pitcher for the Saints and went five innings, picking up four strikeouts while allowing three hits.
Emily Senjan came in for the remainder of the game, tossing two scoreless innings allowing only one hit.
