INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville baseball was swept by the University of Indianapolis with a 12-11 walk-off loss on Sunday. The Saints are now 27-14 overall and fall to third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings at 20-8 in league play.

Jack Zebig led off the game with a solo home run to right field to get the Maryville offense going in the first.
Michael Gould reached on an error in the second at-bat of the game, stole second, and scored on an RBI groundout from
Matt Schuler.Â

The Saints carried a 2-0 lead into the top of the third and added another run after
Andy Bunton walked and scored on Gould's double to left-center. Gould came around to score on a wild pitch and a fifth run came in later when
Colin Bergmann hit into a fielder's choice.Â

UIndy came storming back in the bottom of the third with three runs on three hits and an error.
Camden Ruby hit a solo blast in the top of the fourth to extend the lead to 6-3, Easton Good hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 6-4, and Maryville tallied two more in the fifth to expand the lead out to 8-4.Â

In the fifth, Cole Hampton led off the bottom half with a single, reached second on a throwing error, and scored on another Saint error a few hitters later. Caleb Vaughn reached on one of the throwing errors and scored on a sacrifice fly to pull the Greyhounds within two.Â

Bergmann tacked on a run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly before the home team rallied for two in the bottom of the seventh and took the lead with three runs in the eighth.Â

Down to the final three outs of the game,
Matt Schuler singled to lead off the ninth, but UIndy closer E.J. White retired the next two hitters.
Camden Ruby then dug in and drilled a dramatic two-run home run to right field to knot the game at 11.
Jacob Hager worked a walk in the next at-bat and stole second, but White kept the game tied heading into the bottom of the ninth.Â

Bryce Goodwine walked to lead off the inning and advanced on a wild pitch. Maryville opted to intentionally walk Drew Donaldson at the plate and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Another walk loaded the bases for Hampton who singled up the middle for a 12-11 Greyhound win and a four-game series sweep.Â
