LANSING, Mich. – The Maryville University women's bowling squad fell to the University of Nebraska 1-2 in a NCAA Regional elimination match on Saturday afternoon.
The team began the double-elimination NCAA Regional tournament on Friday, April 5, where they faced the University of Nebraska. To begin the match, Maryville won the first match of the traditional single-game total against the Huskers. In the second match of a five-game baker format total, Maryville edged out another win. Maryville moved on to play the winner of Youngstown State and Marian (Wis.) in the next round.
After Youngstown State got a victory over Marian, the Saints were pitted against Youngstown State University in round two. The Penguins took the match up 2-0 over the Saints, pushing Maryville to the consolation bracket for a rematch against the University of Nebraska in an early Saturday elimination match.
Beginning round three of the bracket, Nebraska gained a victory over Maryville in a close match where the Huskers pulled out the win in match three of the best-of-seven baker series.
The bowling team will wrap up the 2023-24 campaign with a trip to Louisville, Ky., for the ITC Championships that begin on Wednesday, April 17 and run through Sunday, April, 21.
