EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Eighth-seeded Maryville University fell 9-1 in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament to the University of Indianapolis on Thursday afternoon.

Indianapolis got off to a good start with two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly from Braxt Downs. They added three more runs in the second on an Em O'Connor two-RBI double and another sacrifice fly.  In the bottom of the third, UIndy plated four more on two hits and one error.
 
With their backs against the wall in the top of the fifth facing a 9-0 mercy rule loss, Mandi Lenon stepped in with two outs and clubbed a 2-0 offering over the left field fence for a solo home run. Greyhounds reliever Jayden Casebolt wrapped up the game from there to finish a 9-1 first-round win.
 
UIndy starting pitcher Kenzee Smith picked up her 30^th win of the season after going four innings while allowing two hits and picking up a pair of strikeouts. Third Team All-GLVC selection Chayse Ramey fell to 16-15 after giving up five earned in two innings.
