EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Eighth-seeded Maryville University fell 9-1 in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament to the University of Indianapolis on Thursday afternoon.

Indianapolis got off to a good start with two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly from Braxt Downs. They added three more runs in the second on an Em O'Connor two-RBI double and another sacrifice fly. Â In the bottom of the third, UIndy plated four more on two hits and one error.

With their backs against the wall in the top of the fifth facing a 9-0 mercy rule loss,
Mandi Lenon stepped in with two outs and clubbed a 2-0 offering over the left field fence for a solo home run. Greyhounds reliever Jayden Casebolt wrapped up the game from there to finish a 9-1 first-round win.
