INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville University baseball fell with a 9-3 final to the University of Indianapolis on Monday to end the NCAA Tournament run. The Saints came one win short of a bid to the NCAA Super Regional and wrapped up a year that saw them win 40 games including a Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Championship.

Michael Gould tried to jump-start the offense with a solo home run to left field in the first inning but Indianapolis starter Diego Cardenas rebounded with four consecutive scoreless frames.

UIndy got two runs on Nick Lukac's two-RBI single in the second and two more in the fourth on a solo home run from Caleb Vaughn and an RBI groundout. The Greyhounds went on to extend the lead to 9-1 by the end of the eighth inning.

Colin Bergmann tripled in a run in the top of the ninth and later scored on a single by
Jacob Hager, but it was not enough to spark a comeback. Payton Plym finished a save and a 9-3 final with one last flyout.
