Romeoville, Ill. – The Maryville men's lacrosse team advanced to the finals of the 2024 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament with a weather-delayed 10-7 victory over Rockhurst. The Saints move to the finals and face No. 1 seed and host Lewis University Saturday, May 4, at Noon in Romeoville, Ill.
Ethan Olson tallied a hat trick, while
Dylan Radke made 19 saves, the most in three seasons.

Rockhurst recap
The Saints jumped on top with a
Justin Simonson goal just over two minutes into the game. The defenses took over, and the Saints went a man down. However, instead of giving up a player-up advantage, Maryville extended its lead as
Ben Foster converted for a 2-0 edge. Just under two minutes later,
Reid Usrey fired in a goal as the Saints roared to a 3-0 lead at the 2:30 mark. Rockhurst pulled one score back with 1:51 left in the first but the game was postponed due to weather conditions.

When the game resumed in Friday at 11 a.m., the Hawks scored two of the next three goals to close to 4-3. Baker answered for Maryville to build a 5-3 advantage at halftime. The Saints came out of the break with a surge and took control with four straight scores.
Ethan Olson tallied back-to-back goal, before
Garrett Rivers tallied his first of the season. Olson tacked on a score for a 9-3 advantage. Rockhurst scored late to cut the Maryville advantage to 9-4 heading into the final quarter.

The Hawks made a late push and closed the gap to 9-7 with under three minutes left to play. However,
Colin Tobias sealed the victory with a goal in the final seconds as the Saints advanced to their first GLVC Tournament final.
Reid Usrey picked up an assist to reach 100 points for his Maryville career.
