Box Score Romeoville, Ill. – The Maryville men's lacrosse team was narrowly edged out 11-10 by No. 1 seed Lewis in the title game of the 2024 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. The Saints had two shots in the final frantic seconds that were turned aside that could have forced overtime but didn't find the range.

On the first possession of the game,
Colin Tobias fired in a goal for a quick 1-0 lead. The Flyers tied the game but
Zach Baker put the Saints back ahead 2-1. Lewis scored the last two goals of the period for a 3-2 edge. The Saints used a big second quarter to surge into the lead. Tobias deadlocked the game before
Mitchell Kaye gave the Saints a 4-3 cushion. Less than a minute later, Baker found the back of the net. Kaye notched his second goal for a 6-3 lead at the break.
Dylan Radke came up with five saves in the quarter to blank the Flyers.

Foster opened the third quarter with a goal as the Saints built a 7-3 margin three minutes after the break. Lewis rallied and came all the way back to force a 7-7. Foster again had the answer for an 8-7 edge at the 4:17 mark. Lewis tacked on two consecutive goals to retake a 9-8 lead with 16 seconds left in the quarter.

Lewis scored the first goal of the fourth to push to a 10-8 margin.
Ethan Olson snipped in a goal before Kaye completed his hat trick to forge a 10-10 tie with 6:20 to play. Lewis retook the lead 11-10 with a score at the 4:34 mark. The Saints had two chances with the ball but were unable to score. Lewis had a shot with 63 ticks left but Radke made the save. The Saints had an attempt saved with 46 seconds to go. Lewis had possession in the waning seconds but the Saints forced a turnover with 21 ticks left. After a timeout, the Saints put a final shot on goal but it was saved and deflected off the cage as time expired.
