KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Playing in a neutral site, halfway between St. Louis and Hays, Kan. at Swope Park in Kansas City, Mo., the Maryville men's soccer team suffered a rough loss to the No. 22-ranked Fort Hays State Tigers on Thursday evening. The Tigers unleased a five spot on the Saints, with the first three scores coming from FHS' Bastian Carlman.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
With kickoff at 8 p.m., the Tigers took only until the fourth minute of play to put a ball in the net. That early aggression set the tone as the Tigers controlled the pace from that point on. Another at the 33rd left it a two-goal advantage at the break.
Â
Fresh from intermission, the Saints showed some early fight with
Magnus Buschmeier taking a close shot at the 52nd mark of the contest. The Tigers, behind a stout back line, kept their control however, eventually amounting to the third goal at the 77th.
Â
Fort Hays added on two more at the 80th minute and the 83rd, ending the contest 5-0.
