SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – In their final non-conference match of the season, the Maryville women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Drury on Friday afternoon.
Both teams found the back of the net in each half, with Brooke Slater and Ashlyne Hunt providing the goals for the Saints.
During the Lori Lawson era of Saints soccer, Maryville has gone 3-2-3 against the Panthers, with neither team claiming back-to-back victories since the 2018-2019 seasons.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints were the first to strike, as a 9th-minute corner from Lexi Gentry set up Slater, who headed the ball in. That lead stood until the 30th minute, when the Panthers leveled the score with a penalty kick.
After halftime, it took until the 64th minute for the tie to be broken, with the Saints retaking the lead. Tori Calvert worked the ball up the far side of the field and delivered a perfect cross for Hunt, who finished it in the back of the net.
Drury equalized in the final ten minutes of action, leaving the game tied as the clock ran out.
