Grand Valley recap
The Lakers remained unbeaten on the season but saw the Saints extend the match to four sets. Maryville was down just 13-11 after an
Ella Brinkmann kill but GVSU scored four straight. Another Brinkmann kill stopped the Lakers' run but Maryville never drew any closer. GVSU scored eight of the first 10 points in set two but the Saints suffered through their lowest hitting percentage as the Lakers took a 2-0 lead.
The Saints were down 16-13 in the third set but rallied. After a GVSU service error,
Hanna Dressing had a kill and teamed with
Ella Domian on a block to tie the set. The Lakers committed two hitting errors, and a service ace by
Taylor Hasbrook was good for a 19-16 lead. Maryville stretched its lead to 21-17 but the Lakers came back to forge a tie at 23-all. GVSU served the ball out, and a
Lilly Stanton ace extended the match to a fourth set. The Saints cut the GVSU to 10-8 on a kill by
Emma Hoing. Maryville kept the Lakers within reach after a kill by Lilly Brown and a GVSU error to make it 16-11. However, the Lakers scored four of the next five points and closed out the match.
