ST. LOUIS – The No. 25 ranked Maryville Saints wrestling team kept it's GLVC record perfect, defeating the Quincy Hawks 33-13 in the confines of Moloney Arena. The Saints scored four-straight extra-point wins to close the dual, the final show coming from
Orest Nazarchuk who scored a 23-10 major decision.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints got off on the right foot as
Sam Shafer (125) kept the Hawks quiet with a 4-0 win.
Evan Binder, in a continued return to form, was aggressive early and it paid off in droves as he grabbed the first fall of the evening, his third of the season.
The Hawks weathered the storm, scoring wins at 141, 149 and 165, with
Javier Gutierrez's major being the only thing stopping Quincy from taking the lead. That was the last chance for the Hawks as the big boys shut down the show with
Cole Ritter making his return from injury to the show of a three-minute tech fall.
Dalton Litzsinger, the Saints pin leader, added onto his double-digit total with a first-period fall.
Jeremiah Larson's tech fall, and the Nazarchuk major ended the day for the Saints.
