SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The Maryville men's basketball team was looking to make it three straight wins in the series over Drury but the Panthers held off a charge by the Saints to claim an 85-71 decision.
Anthony Holden led four Saints in double figures with 15 points.
Trey Redd handed out seven assists to direct the Maryville offense. The Saints shot 51.9 percent and converted nine 3-pointers on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Drury went on a 14-2 spree to build an 18-7 margin.
Lucas Burton sank two free throws and
Darrius Washington scored inside as the Saints pulled to within 20-11. The Panthers stayed out front before Maryville made a push late in the first half. The run began when Burton powered for a layup,
Dewayne Vass converted two at the line. Vass scored on a layup, and one free throw by
Francisco Espinosa cut the deficit to nine. Drury settled for a 34-22 margin at intermission.

Early in the second half,
Anthony Holden converted on back-to-back layups to bring the Saints to within 40-33. The Panthers responded with eight straight points to steady their lead. Vass completed a three-point play, and after two DU free throws,
Lawrence Brazil III connected on consecutive triples to make it 50-42.
Luke Williams dialed up another trey from deep as Maryville closed to within 52-45. Another 3-pointer from Brazil III made it 62-53 with under nine minutes to play. However, the Panthers tallied 10 straight to keep the Saints at bay.
