ST. LOUIS –
Luke Williams led three players in double figures with 15 points but the Maryville men's basketball team dropped a 91-69 decision to hot-shooting Missouri-St. Louis.
Anthony Holden added 14 points, while
Dewayne Vass chipped in 11. The visitors blazed the nets at a 59.3 percent clip which proved to the difference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Luke Williams hit a 3-pointer on Maryville's first possession of the game for a quick 3-2 lead. The Tritons used a 12-4 burst before
Anthony Holden sank a shot from beyond the arc. The trey started an 8-2 run as he followed with another triple before
Dewayne Vass threw down a dunk to pull the Saints to 16-15.

The Tritons rebuilt their lead but
Lawrence Brazil III and a 3-pointer and layup by
Francisco Espinosa forged a 24-24 tie. UMSL scored eight of the next 11 points to extend it lead. Vass converted on a driving layup to make it 37-33 before the Tritons took a 42-35 edge into the break. Interestingly, the only foul of the entire first half was called with just 2:23 left to play in the opening 20 minutes.

Williams sank a turnaround jumper to open the second half but the Tritons surged ahead on the legs of a 10-3 run. Vass made a wing 3-pointer to trim the gap to 55-45. However, UMSL pulled away with an 11-2 spree.
