INS & OUTS
Hackbarth, in the 141 class, was perfect through his first four matches of the day with bonus points galore. He began with a 16-3 major, parlaying that into a third period fall over the host institution's Cayden Dotson. A sub one-minute pin followed him in the quarters, marking three straight decisive wins. He battled past Central Oklahoma's Dominik Benedetto in the semis before falling in the final to NC State's Gavin Linsman.
Â
After putting on a crowd-pleasing performance on Thursday over
Quincy, Nazarchuk built upon that, opening his day with back-to-back decisions in the first two rounds. A pin in the quarters sent the young heavyweight to the semis where he saw his journey in the top-side bracket end via major.
Â
A win in his first consolation match sent him to the third-place match where he earned the top three spot by no contest.
Â
It was a six-match day for Gousetis who earned a close 9-8 win in his first time on the mat. Despite falling in the quarters, he kept pushing with a fall and a major, the latter coming against the same foe from his opening match. He went 1-1 in his final two bouts, ending his day in fifth.
