ROMEOVILLE, ILL. – The Maryville women's basketball team put on a valiant defensive effort against the Great Lakes Valley Conference leaders but Lewis remained unbeaten in league play with a 57-45 win.
Annika Pluemer led the Saints with 10 points but was the lone Maryville player to reach double figures.
Gracie Stugart hauled down a career-high 15 rebounds to go along with five assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lindsey Schadewalt scored on a layup as the Saints were poised to take a hard-fought 22-20 lead into halftime. Lewis sank a late 3-pointer to grab a 23-22 edge at the break. The Flyers tallied the first seven points of the third before Stugart knocked down a jumper to end the Lewis streak. The Flyers built an 11-point lead until
Alicia Burgos sank a 3-pointer to bring the Saints back to a single-digit deficit.

Lewis went back up 46-32 but Pluemer drained a triple to keep the Saints close.
Adylan Ayer scored five straight points on two free throws and a 3-pointer at the Saints cut their deficit to 49-40 with three minutes to play in the contest. Maryville made a push to trim the gap but never got the margin below double figures the rest of the way. Stugart's rebounding total is the most for Maryville since
Karlee Feldman also snared 15 caroms at Truman State Feb. 15, 2024.
