ST. LOUIS – In front of a raucous Pink Out crowd during its first home match of the season, the Maryville volleyball team swept #17 Missouri Baptist 25-17, 25-17, 26-24.
Emma Hoing led the way with 11 kills and hit .348, while
Ella Domian drilled down eight kills and hit .571. As a team, the Saints recorded a .402 hitting percentage on 46 kills and committed just nine errors. The kill percentage is the fourth-highest in a match in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints were up 6-5 before reeling off five straight points. After an MBU error,
Ella Brinkmann served an ace. After a kills by Hoing, Brinkmann dished up another ace. Another Hoing kill pushed the edge to 11-5. The Spartans got as closed at 15-11 but the Saints responded with three consecutive points. Brinkmann hammered down a kill, and
Olivia Klump served an ace. An MBU attack error made it 18-11, and the Saints cruised the rest of the way.

In set two, the Saints held a narrow lead and were up 18-15 before taking control with an 8-0 run.
Caroline Glastetter started the run with a kill before MBU had an error. Brinkmann served up another ace, and
Leslie Longanbach notched a kill. Back-to-back aces by Brinkmann pushed the Saints to set point before closing out for a 2-0 edge. Maryville hit a sparkling .480 in the second set.

Set three was tied 11 times and had six lead changes before the Saints made a late push. Tied at 23-23, MBU scored for a set point. Brinkmann went cross court for a kill to tie the score. Hoing followed with a kill to the corner to set up match point. Brinkmann served her sixth of the match to close out the contest.
Cami Kohmetscher distributed a season-high 21 assists, while Longanbach came up with five blocks.
