ST. LOUIS – A second-half penalty kick from
Jacob Darwesh Lund Iversen helped the Maryville men's soccer team earn a 1-1 draw against Lewis University on Friday night at Lonnie Folks Field.
The goal marks the fourth of the season for Lund-Iversen, moving the Saints to 6-4-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flyers struck first in the 12th minute when Stefan Ziermann found the back of the net off an assist from Roman Hernandez. Maryville pushed for the equalizer and finally broke through in the 61st minute when Lund-Iversen converted from the spot to even the score.
The Saints (7-5-2, 6-4-1 GLVC) outshot the Flyers 9-6 and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks, applying steady pressure in the second half. Lewis' (4-4-7, 3-4-4 GLVC) goalkeeper  made two saves to preserve the draw, while Maryville's
Asgrimur Vidisson stopped three shots between the posts, one coming late in the contest on a Flyer breakaway to preserve the draw.
Luca Alessandro Ferraro led the Saints with three shots, including one on goal, while
Sivert Roberg and
Leyson Losada each registered late scoring chances as Maryville pressed for the winner.

The Saints have their final regular season home match of the season on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2:30 p.m. The contest will be preceded by the 2025 senior day festivities.Â
