ST. LOUIS – The Maryville men's soccer team battled hard but came up short on Senior Day, falling 1-0 to the Upper Iowa Peacocks.
Before the opening kickoff, the Saints celebrated their senior class in
Tommy Barrell,
Magnus Buschmeier,
Steen Nielsen, and
Sebastian Weitlaner.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Maryville started strong, controlling possession and creating several chances, but couldn't find the back of the net in the first half.
In the second half, the Saints continued to control play, outshooting the Peacocks 10-6 and earning four corners while allowing none. However, a quick Upper Iowa counter in the 87th minute produced the only goal of the game, handing the Peacocks a 1-0 win.
