QUINCY, Ill. – Jacob Darwesh Lund Iversen's late goal in the 84th minute lifted the Maryville men's soccer team to a 2-1 road victory over Quincy on Friday night at Jack Mackenzie Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints jumped ahead in the 27th minute when
Sebastian Weitlaner found the back of the net off assists from
Luca Alessandro Ferraro and Lund-Iversen. Quincy answered midway through the second half to even the score at 1-1.
With the match seemingly headed toward a draw, Lund-Iversen delivered the game-winner for Maryville in the closing stages, finishing off a setup from
Jan Fulnek to secure the win.
Goalkeeper
Asgrimur Vidisson recorded three saves in the full 90 minutes as Maryville improved to 8-6-2 overall and 7-5-1 in GLVC play. The Saints matched Quincy in total shots at 11 apiece but held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
