ST. LOUIS – The No. 16-ranked Maryville women's soccer extended its unbeaten streak with an 4-0 home victory over the Lincoln Blue Tigers. The Saints controlled the pace from start to finish, with
Isabella Lobley and
Ashtyn Fry each scoring their first career goals to power the team to a decisive win, the latter of which scoring twice.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Maryville got off to a fast start, and just 10 minutes into the match, Lobley found the back of the net off a
Gina Catanzaro header following a cross from
Allison Estanich. The Saints controlled most of the first half, firing off 18 shots, but had to wait until the second half to extend their lead.
The Saints came out firing in the second half, and their relentless pressure paid off quickly in the 49th minute when
Sophia Carter netted her third goal of the season off a pass from Lobley, who notched three points on the game.
As the clock ticked down, the Blue Tigers held strong, making five saves, but
Ashtyn Fry broke through, scoring twice in the 84th and 89th minutes to seal the victory.
